The Seneca Engineering Students’ Society organizes events throughout the year, from local activities to regional and national competitions. Here are the types of opportunities available to our members:

Local SESS Events

Frosh Event
#

When: September (every year)

Where: Newnham Campus

A fun-filled day where new students can meet friends, learn about campus resources, and participate in engineering activities. Usually organized in collaboration with the School of Software Design & Data Science.

Celebrating engineering excellence! This event features engineering activities, project demos, and showcases the impact of engineering in our world. Open to all students and faculty.

SEC Programming Challenge
SEC Re-Engineering Challenge

Showcase your skills in innovation, design, and communication by tackling real-world engineering challenges. In-house winners advance to compete at the Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC) against teams from other schools across Ontario!

Various networking events, coding workshops, design activities, and social mixers designed to help you connect with peers, learn new skills, and have fun.


Provincial Events (ESSCO)
#

The Engineering Students’ Societies’ Council of Ontario (ESSCO) connects engineers across the province through prestigious annual conferences.

President’s Meeting (PM)
#

When: June 7-9, 2024
Where: Conestoga (Waterloo Campus)

ESCO’s flagship event bringing together VP External Council members and presidents from member schools to set goals and prepare for the year ahead.

PEO Student Conference (PEO-SC)

When: October 4-6, 2024
Where: University of Waterloo

Focus on professional development for students nearing graduation. Learn about opportunities as a graduate engineer and the path to achieving your Professional Engineering (PEng) designation.

First Year Integration Conference (FYIC)

When: November 1-3, 2024

Where: University of Toronto

Presented by the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), FYIC encourages first-year students to take leadership roles and introduces you to the broader ESSCO community.

Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC)

When: January 2025
Where: McMaster University

Compete against students from schools across Ontario in Design, Consulting, and Re-Engineering challenges. Top performers from Seneca’s local competition earn the chance to represent our school here!

Conference on Advocacy & Leadership in Engineering (CALE)
#

When: February 2025
Where: Toronto Metropolitan University

ESSOC’s annual leadership-focused conference promoting advocacy and excellence in engineering education across the province.


National Events (CFES)
#

The Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES) connects engineers across Canada through world-class national events.

Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC)
#

The annual gathering of Canada’s best and brightest engineering students! Through seven competitions, students are challenged in innovation, design, and communications.

Canadian Engineering Leadership Conference (CELC)

The CFES annual general meeting and platform for student collaboration with industry partners, sponsors, and fellow students across Canada.

Conference on Sustainability in Engineering (CSE)

Raise awareness about sustainability and environmental engineering challenges, and discuss solutions to critical environmental issues.
